Casky

Terms of Use

Effective October 24, 2026

These terms apply to the Casky app for macOS ("Casky", "the app") and the website casky.app. They are an agreement between you and avrdude ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Casky, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

License

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license to use it on any Mac you own or control, for personal or business use, including the updates we release. You may not sell Casky, redistribute modified copies of it, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this despite this restriction. We keep all rights not expressly granted.

Usage data

Casky sends anonymous usage data unless you turn it off in its Settings. What's sent and how it's handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Third-party software and services

Casky installs, updates and removes software from third parties, including Homebrew, the Mac App Store, editor extension marketplaces and package registries. That software and those services are provided by their own developers under their own licenses and terms, which you are responsible for following. We do not control them and are not responsible for them, their availability or their content.

Changes to your Mac

At your request, Casky runs commands that install and remove software, change system and app settings, and replace files such as dotfiles, some with administrator rights. Review what a setup or install will do before you run it, and keep backups of your data. You are responsible for the changes you choose to make.

Updates

We may release new versions of Casky, change or remove features, or stop offering the app at any time.

Disclaimer of warranties

Casky is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will not cause loss of data.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use Casky, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to 50 US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

Termination

Your license ends automatically if you break these terms. You may stop using Casky at any time by deleting it.

Trademarks

Apple, Mac, macOS, App Store and Touch ID are trademarks of Apple Inc. Homebrew and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. Casky is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple or Homebrew.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use Casky after a change means you accept the updated terms.
